A move of God alone could produce a day such as this one. Friday I had no classes and nothing defined for the day other than busy work. I got my hair cut in the morning, walking a good 25-30 minutes across campus in order to reach my destination. My patience is truly growing.
I walked back to the main region of campus and sat down for lunch at ‘Taco Bell’ (not at all the Taco Bell from America) with two friends, Christina and Sara, and a Ghanaian they addressed as Master-P (I know, great nickname right). Both the food and conversation were great. All in all a good lunch.
From there we headed to Barclay’s bank on campus, where my two friends picked up some cash, then we were off to Legon Hall. Here students live, eat and play pool. So you know I had to drop by and beat a couple people. I got a chance to play two games, both of which were wins (two v two for the first game, then a solo match). As Master-P and I left with Christina & Sara, to give them both enough time to reach their following 3:30PM classes, a sound proceeded to lead me to the courtyard area near an enclosed statue that rests within Legon Hall. Without hesitation I knew the pull of God. I had to see what this was.
After walking my friend s to the street, Master-P directed me to the chapel where the worship progressed. Mind you I had seen no advertisement for such a group, but knew prior to reaching how essential it would be for me to participate in a campus ministry. Kindly I interrupted and briefly introduced myself and informed them of my interest to join an on campus choir. Jennifer, one of the members, let me know that hey would soon complete heir rehearsal and so I decided to sit in. As full as I felt being led to listen and join this group, I could only imagine what God could do to draw others, provoking their ears to hear and hearts to inquire of Him.
One of my two friends realized she missed her class by mistaking it as 3:30PM when it was really scheduled for 1:30PM. She joined me in the chapel, quite reluctantly at first, but as the choir continued to minister she turned to me and said that she would wait with me.
Once the choir was through, I approached them and began to speak about my participation in the New Spirit of Penn and that I knew this was the choir I needed to join. As we continued in conversation, I paused to quickly tell the choir director that his singing style reminded me of Micah Stampley. Almost immediately, one choir member told me that Micah would be in Accra the following day, at his own church nonetheless. GOD IS UNDENIABLEY AWESOME!
No lie, I had been talking with my friend while waiting for the close of choir rehearsal, and mentioned my love for the worship of Micah Stampley. One desire of mine while home in the states had been to see him minister, but his engagements were always too far. Yet, God had a plan, knowing I would be in Ghana during this time and season.
In addition to the up coming Stampley concert, some choir members told me that they would be ministering at an event this evening at 7PM. Right away, I said I would attend.

The evening service was glorious and the worship was so real. I felt as thought I could hear angels in unison with our praise. When praises go up in Ghana, praises truly go up. They do not play with their lives; this is not a performance. And with greater praise comes greater warfare. But know that you are equipped to do great things. I was lead by all the power and the move of God this entire day. Drawn to the choir, then drawn in the upper room of Center Cafeteria (the large, second floor room where this service was being conducted). Even as I glanced upwards a mist rose above us due to our worship, that the presence of the Holy Spirit was visible even to those who could not believe.
As the service progress, I realize that these students present had been collectively fasting and praying for 5 days, longing for the glorious presence of the Lord. With my lack of knowledge, I thought this might have been a prayer and praise revival. The choir that I witnessed earlier in the chapel [Chosen Vessels Choir], took the congregation into even greater worship.
Unbeknownst to me, a pastor was invited to join them this evening, and with a prophetic word she brought forward the leaders of the presiding Christian Fellowship and ordained them. Not for title-sake, however, but to operate as what she called ‘secret service men and women of God’ knowing His inner depths and performing His great work in these last days.
Truly as Israel Houghton sings in Alpha & Omega, ‘Africa will rise and give You glory, Africa will rise and give You glory.’ And as 2 Corinthians 10:4 states: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.”
The glory of God was well apparent. Even as we tarry until late evening, I heard a confirming word. God is doing great things in my life. The scripture that outlines the entire services came from one of the students early on and I specifically recorded it to look back on it later:
Jeremiah 24:7
“I will give them a heart to know me, that will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.”
